Billy Aylmer Dumas, 94, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2025 at his home. He was born September 8, 1930 in El Dorado, AR to Elmer and Hazeldean Ethridge Dumas.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Elda Dumas; a brother Joe Dumas; and children, Butch Chism, Pam Church, and Ricky Chism.
Billy retired from the University of Arkansas after 35 years as an entomologist. He was a master wood carver who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Bobbie Dumas of the home; three sons, Greg Dumas and wife Barbara of Ft Worth, TX, Ronnie Chism and wife Nancy of Summers, AR, and David Chism of Ft Smith, AR; two daughters, Debra Caperton and husband Paul of Fayetteville, and Teresa Richards of Fayetteville; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday, June 30, 2025 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel.
Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Round Mountain Cemetery with Pastor John Meade officiating.
