Carl Devon Springston was born in Durham, AR. to Floyd Carl and Alice Nickell Springston on October 30, 1934. He grew up on the family farm and attended Elkins School.
He passed from this life into Heaven on Monday morning, December 28, 2015 at Washington Regional Medical Center at 3:45 A.M. with his wife of 63 years at his side.
Carl was a member of the Fayetteville Fire Dept. of Fayetteville for 21 years, retiring as a Captain in 1976. He then formed his own business selling and servicing fire extinguishers until his health forced him to retire after many years.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 47 years. Carl was an active member of Good Sam’s R.V. Club and the Ozark Ridge Runners for 10 years. Barbara and Carl traveled all over in their motor home. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved the Razorback games.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Junior and Miles of Elkins; and one sister, Marjorie Key of Greenland.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; one daughter, Regena Jolliff and husband, Roger of Sand Springs, OK.; two sons, Gary and wife, Linda of Fayetteville and Scott and wife, Christina of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; 5 granddaughters, Rachel, Andrea, Kathryn, Becca and Taylor; and one great-granddaughter, Caden.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Phil Misenheimer officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 P.M. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the funeral home.

I didnt know carl but always heard of what a great papaw he was and what a great guy he was also my prayers go out to all the family.

Tela and I were saddened to learn of Carl’s death. We always Loved Carl and always thought the World of Carl. Our prayers are with the family as you morn the passing, we know you will miss him. We all rejoice in knowing that Carl is now in heaven and knowing such great men as Carl are there makes our longing for heaven sweeter knowing friends like Carl are waiting for us.
