Dawn Jeannette Brake, 60, of Elkins, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, February 8th, 2024. She was born July 10, 1963, in Fayetteville, Arkansas to E.A. “Mickey” and Donna Counts.
Dawn is preceded in death by parents E.A. “Mickey” Counts and Donna Tillman Counts; husband Bradley Joseph Brake; and nephews Creig Rogers and Eli Mathis.
Survivors include her daughter Morgan Brake of Elkins and fiancé Ethan Curtsinger of Prairie Grove and his daughter Presley; her siblings, Diana Hammons of Elkins, Debbie Rogers and Les Rogers of Fayetteville, Michael Counts of Fayetteville, and Dena Counts Stockalper of Fayetteville; 15 nieces/nephews; and 28 great-nieces/nephews all of whom she loved dearly.
Dawn’s infectious laughter touched the hearts of many and brought joy to her family and friends. She was a true country girl who found peace in nature; whether it was tending to a garden with her sisters, exploring the countryside horseback, casting a line while fishing or taking a dirt road to look at fall-leaves Dawn had a knack for finding treasures in unexpected places. Auctions, flea markets, and estate sales were her hunting grounds for unique finds. She could often be found singing and dancing at a concert or listening to music. Dawn was proud of her big family. She rarely missed a celebration or watching her nieces and nephews play sports. Dawn cherished her daughter (Hunny Bunny) who grew up to be her best friend. Their bond was unbreakable, and her daughter will forever carry her mother’s love in her heart.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Beard’s Chapel.
The celebration of life will be Monday, February 19, 2024, at 11 AM, at Living Faith Church, 1351 Morningside Dr, Fayetteville, AR 72701. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

As I remember Dawn her sweet smile & a hug immediately comes to my mind. She was a classmate of our late daughter, Kelly, & each time I saw her she told me how sorry she was after Kelly’s death & that she too loved Kelly. She was kind & compassionate & a friend to so many. I never met her daughter, but pray for comfort for her & each of Dawn’s family members. 💖

I offer my condolences to Dawn’s family. I knew you, Dena, as a neighbor for a few years. I can’t image losing the presence of a sister, especially so young as I see age now. I don’t know how I’d keep going without my sis. I pray God will keep all of you close to Him. Jacque Fifer
