Donald Douglas Shepherd, 76, of Fayetteville, went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2022 at his home. He was born March 14, 1946 in Mulberry, AR to Ersel and Grace Vera Rainwater Shepherd.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ersel and Grace Shepherd.

Donald served in the Army National Guard. He was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Donald loved bluegrass music and enjoyed playing the mandolin.

He never met a stranger. Donald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and mentor.

Donald is survived by his wife, Joyce Patrick Shepherd of the home; two sons, Dewayne Douglas Shepherd of St. Paul, AR and Jackie Allen Miller of Fayetteville; two daughters, Donya Shepherd Calderon of Huntsville, AR and Dianna Marie Welch and husband Hayden of Crosses, AR; two brothers, David Ersel Shepherd of Tennessee and Roger Shepherd of Mountain Crest, AR; one sister, Shirley Jean Depew of Texas; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Friday, April 8, 2022 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the Bidville Church with Brother Eugene Provence officiating. Interment will follow in Bidville Cemetery.

    Donald taught me to shoot my 22 single shot when I was like 10. I have pretty good aim thanks to him.

    I am so sorry for your loss of Shep. He was one of the wisest men I ever knew. I always thought a lot of him and feel honored to have known him. He will be missed by all that knew him.

    I sure wanted to attend the visitation and funeral but my schedule just didn’t allow that to happen. I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers 🙏🏼🙏🏼
