Jimmy Wayne Woodard, July 7, 1934~November 5, 2024

Nov 6, 2024

Tribute to a Texan, Jimmy Wayne Woodard was born July 7, 1934 in the dusty West Texas town of Lamesa. The oldest of three boys, Jimmy grew up around horses, rifles, and open spaces.  Once, as a teenager, Jimmy hopped a freight train headed towards his Uncle’s New Mexico ranch, where he worked for the summer.

Jimmy served as a ground-air mechanic in the 1950s at Barksdale Air Force Base.  Later he moved with his family to the small town of Mesquite, Texas where he began his carpentry career, married Ms. Barbara Jane Stewart of Mississippi, and raised his family.

In the later 90’s, Jimmy retired as a construction superintendent and found land outside of Lincoln, Arkansas, where his in-laws had migrated decades before. There he built a new life.  Jimmy had a dry sense of humor, a generous heart and loved the outdoors.  He played a mean game of domino’s, hunted, and enjoyed shooting the breeze with his good friend, Bruce Oliver.

Jimmy is survived by his son Bart Woodard; daughter Rebecca Woodard; and a lot of good memories.  Life will be dull without him, but he won’t be forgotten.  Not by a long shot.

Cremation arrangements by Beard’s Funeral Chapel.
