Mary Jane Owen Swope passed away Friday, April 24, 2020 at North Hills Life Care & Rehab. She was born and raised in Greenland, AR to Clabe and Sadie C. Daniel Owen.
She was preceded in death by her parent; three brothers, James, Boyce and Wayne Owen; two sisters, Billie Owen and Audrey Mae Guinn; husband, Stanley C. Swope of 40 years (married October 4, 1953); her children, James Earl “Jim” Swope and daughter, Sarah Lee Hamm.
Jane is survived by one son-in-law, Bill Hamm; two grandsons, James Douglas Hamm and Austin Robert Hamm, all of Elkins; nephew, Michael Owen of Hutchinson, KS; and niece, Sandy Lankford of Castle Rock, CO.
Mrs. Swope was very active in Washington County 4-H and a leader in the Elkins 4-H Club, where both her children James and Sarah and grandchildren Jimmy and Austin were active members. Her daughter Sarah carried-on the tradition by becoming a leader of the same club for her children. She was employed by Campbell Department Store until she gave birth to her son James Earl and decided to be a stay-at-home mom with her daughter Sarah, who was born seven years later. Jane enjoyed raising her family on the farm. She enjoyed traveling to multiple Farm Bureau conventions with her husband as well as to county, district, state fairs and Junior Nationals cattle shows with her children. She was very active with her husband in Washington County Farm Bureau and the Washington County Fair for many years. Jane stayed connected with the Washington County Fair by volunteering her time to check-in and judge entries for horticulture and canned goods. Her love for watching her children grow through the farm and fairs continued with the birth of her grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of the Richland Community Church.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Baptist Ford Cemetery with Pastor Terry Mudd officiating.
Pallbearers will be Charles Bradshaw, Gary Hood, Darrell Tunstill, Bill Smiley, Kevin Jones, Jimmy Hamm and Austin Hamm. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Burnett and Herman Jones.

Jane touched many lives and will be missed. We know there was a big welcoming group waiting to meet her in heaven,: so many loved ones who have gone before. We will be praying for a special measure of God’s Grace for her family
