Robert E. “Swifty” Reynolds, 69 of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013 at his home. He was born November 21, 1943 in Fairborn, Ohio to Glennie Reynolds and Hattie Beaulah Swiney Reynolds. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Larry, and a daughter Shelly Renee. Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Sandra Jo Huff Reynolds; three daughters, Rebecca Ann Reynolds-Gilmer and husband Bradley of Fayetteville, Glenda Renee Eden and husband Kenneth of West Fork, and Kimberly Jane Steinbrugge and husband Danny of Dayton, Ohio; one sister, Nancy Mayfield, husband Bob and nephew Robert of Hartman, Arkansas; grandchildren, Ava-Sophia Gilmer and Maxim Gilmer both of Fayetteville; Allison Eden and Kennah Eden both of West Fork; and Stacy, Scottie, and April Dawn Steinbrugge all of Dayton, Ohio. “Swifty” will be remembered as a man who loved spending time with his family, tending to the yard, going to Razorback baseball games, and visiting with anyone who would listen. He had a great sense of humor and was known to pull a prank from time to time. He was a kind, likeable, and charismatic man who genuinely cared for his neighbors and his community. He constantly showed this through his volunteer and civic work, which included being a Springdale volunteer fireman, running the Red Cross at the Razorback football games, serving as a deputy sheriff, and serving on the Fayetteville Planning Commission and as Fayetteville Alderman on the city council for 14 years. He had a strong work ethic and was able to live out the ‘American Dream’. He accomplished much in his career, which included managing Swift Meat Co. as well as mediating labor and management disputes for Swift on several occasions, and owning-operating Rogers Rec. on Dickson Street for over 20 years. (He would tell the folks down there today that the pecking order is still in effect!) In retirement, his grandchildren became the center of his world, and he indulged them in ice cream and sweets whenever he could get away with it. He will always be loved and cherished by his family. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 and 10 – 11 AM on Friday, July 5, 2013. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday at the Beard’s Funeral Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Beard’s Funeral Chapel.

Please accept my condolences because you lost Swifty. I believe he is in a better place. I met Swifty one day at Hardee’s, (while McDonalds was being remodeled, where he was meeting with the FOF (Fayetteville Old Fogeys). Every time I saw him after that, he always greeted me as if we were good friends. I will miss seeing him at Rick’s Iron Skillet.
I believe that he was a great man.

I am so sorry to hear of Swiftys passing. Please accept my condolences. I remember him well and will never forget the day he showed me how to clean windows with a newspaper! He was so kind and used to say silly things to make me laugh! I am keeping his family in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I attended Sabine High School and graduated 1953. I knew Billy Dee and Jerald was in my class. I was in the band with Jerry Ann. It’s times such as this that bring us all “together” once again.
Bob was one of the finest non-judgmental people I’ve ever met!!! I worked for him driving a truck in the 80’s and never regretted it. Even when I acted like an idiot, (it wasn’t an act!). He always had something nice to say to me. We need more people like Bob in this world that actually care about humans. Sandy, my Prayers are with you in this time. God takes the ones we love the most when he needs them.
Bless your soul Swifty, I will miss you until I am needed up there too. If you see my name come up, please throw me a rope! I love you man!

I’m very sorry to hear Mr. Reynolds ‘Swifty’ passed away. I will keep your family in my prayers. As a Captain on the Fayetteville Fire Department and during my 23 years on the job I had the honor of meeting with Switty on several occassions throughout the years. He was a dedicated servant of the people both as an elected official and during his tenure serving on the planning commission. I regret that I am unable to attend any of the visitations. May God lift you up and help guide you and your family in this time of loss.
SWIFTY WILL BE GREATLY MISSED. HE ALWAYS TOOK THE TIME TO VISIT AND WAS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE WILL BEING OF OTHERS. IF YOU HAD A QUESTION, HE WOULD FIND THE ANSWER.

I met Swifty in late 2001, when I purchased the brick house next door to him. The first day we were at our new house, he drove his trusty golf cart over and introduced himself. He then told me, “You look young, like maybe you might be a speeder. I watch this road like a hawk and if I notice too much speeding going on, I make a call and have the street patrolled.” I learned he was serious about that pretty quickly. Never got a ticket thankfully but was close a few times. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or share good advice with my husband and I. We were truly blessed to have had such a wonderful neighbor. He was a great man with an infectious smile. We will miss him dearly. Our thoughts are with Sandy and all of the family. May peace be with you. Thanks for sharing him with us. <3 Gone but never forgotten. Sandy if you ever need anything we are a call away.
Sandy – Don’t know if you remember me. I was from Louisiana, and somehow found my way to Roger’s Rec. When I think of my time at the U of A, my best memories are of the times spent at Rogers with friends. In fact, met my husband, Luther, there and I’m still married to him all these years later. Swifty always took good care of us and watched out for us. He was a kind man and I’m so very sorry for your loss! Praying for peace and comfort for your family!
