Thelma Ray Jones, 88, was born February 21, 1937, In Indio California, to Price Clark Jones and Carmel Jones. Northwest Arkansas was hit hard by the Great Depression and thousands of people moved to California looking for work. The Metropolitan Water Works was directing the Colorado River into the desert of California, making the land suitable for crops. The family moved to Boston then later to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, where Thelma’s brother, Price Clark Jones, Jr. was born. At the beginning of World War II they moved to Oak Ridge Tennessee and were there the duration of the war. After the war, in 1946, they moved back to the family farm in Elkins. Thelma Ray had a love for microbiology, porcelain clay, wildlife, specifically wildlife rehabilitation. Graveside service will be at McCord Cemetery, Saturday, March 15 2025, at 1pm.

I am so sorry to just be finding out about Thelma Rays passing. She was a great neighbor and good friend. I helped her get her children’s book printed.
