Barbara Joan Moore, 92, of Fayetteville, died February 9, 2020 in Fayetteville.  She was born October 14, 1927, to Lewis John Hansen and Alice Dier Hansen in Chanute, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Wayne Moore; their son Michael; and her brother, Patrick.

She is survived by her six children, Alyce Moore and her husband, Scott Smith of Fayetteville, AR, Gregory Moore and wife, Kara of Cave Springs, AR, Patrick Moore and wife, LaDawn of Maumelle, AR, Lewis Moore and wife, Patti of Arcadia, OK, Therese Ramsey and husband, Dale of Witter, AR and Stephanie Martin of Maumelle, AR; and 11 grandchildren.

Barbara graduated from Emporia High School in Emporia, KS, where she was editor of the newspaper, then from Emporia State Teachers College in 1949 with a BA in English and Business.  She then earned her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, in 1983.  Barbara was an alumna and vice president of Alpha Sigma Alpha Epsilon and charter member and past vice president of the Flaming Hills Garden Club.

She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, then later St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville.  Barbara had been active in the Legion of Mary, Jr. Legion of Mary, bible study classes and other church-related activities which were very important to her.

Barbara loved her family and family activities.  She was active in all of her childrens’ school, sports activities and accomplishments throughout the years.  She always wanted each of her children to be the best spiritually they could be and to share their God-given talents.

She was selfless, lived each day with gratitude and was always willing to serve others.  One of her favorite things to do was to send cards and notes to let others know that they were being thought of and prayed for.  Her other favorite activity was playing bridge.  She was a member of several area bridge groups, including AAUW.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1722 N. Starr Drive, Fayetteville, AR 72701.

    My thoughts and prayers are with you. I remember her as the picture…akways smiling and happy. My parents cared for her as well.
