Dec 16, 2020

Bessie Marie Hattabaugh, age 79, went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2020 surrounded by her family.  She was born on June 15, 1941 in Patrick, AR to William Allie Warford and Maggie Lee Hall.  The first of nine children, she learned the importance of family at a young age and her love and loyalty to her family remained a consistent driving force throughout her life.

Bessie was the loving wife of Billy Hattabaugh with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.  She was a strong woman of faith and attended Hazel Valley Community Church for many years.  She was a homemaker by trade and especially enjoyed cooking.  She made the best apple, lemon, and coconut pies! Her hobbies included flea marketing, scrapbooking, and reading Christian novels.  She was an avid crocheter for 67 years and was self-taught at only 12 years of age. She made some amazing things throughout her life, and considered it pure joy to give her best work away to others.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters; 1 brother; and her son, Bobby Hattabaugh.

She is survived by her husband, Billy; 2 daughters, Betty Walker of Springdale and Brenda Nix (Jerry) of Elkins; and her daughter-in-law, Sherrie Hattabaugh of Hazel Valley. She is also survived by her siblings, Barbara Wright (Mike), Raymond Warford, Johnny Warford, Donnie Warford and Randy Warford.

“Granny” Bessie was very devoted to her grandchildren whom she loved dearly and was the best caregiver to all.  Her 7 grandchildren include: Misti Taylor (Adam), Hannah Thompson (Derek), Logan Hattabaugh (Brittany), Melissa Mashburn (Curtis), Christy Griggs, Sarah McBroom and Whitney Ferguson (Matt).  Additionally, she has 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and an abundance of nieces and nephews who she was so thankful for.

Visitation will be held at Beard’s Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 5-7 PM.

A celebration of life will be held at Beard’s Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Hazel Valley Cemetery.

She was a loving caregiver, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and a friend to all. She will be greatly missed.

Our hearts are broken as we sorrow with Bessie’s family. But oh how thankful are our hearts that we “sorrow not as others who have no hope”! Bessie was truly a virtuous woman as described in Proverbs 31. Anyone who knew her might think her family came first, but anyone who knew her well, knows her family was 2nd pace behind her Savior. Beautiful woman, beautiful spirit, beautiful Savior.
