Betty Jean Miller, October 4, 1939~January 10, 2022

Jan 11, 2022

Betty Jean Miller of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died on Monday, January 10, 2022.

Betty was born in Dallas, Texas, on October 4, 1939.  She was the oldest daughter of four girls born to Walter and Veda Hunt.

She worked for the Hamburg, Arkansas, School District as a secretary/bookkeeper before retiring and moving to Fayetteville, Arkansas.  Betty was very active in the Central United Methodist Church.  She gave God the Glory in all that she did.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Willis Miller; daughter Tina Mann and her husband Darryl of Sharpsburg, Georgia; son Ben Miller and wife Sarah and their three children (Betty’s grandchildren) Cole Miller and wife Megan, Chloe Miller and Catie Miller, all of Shreveport, Louisiana; three sisters: Sherry White, Darlene Calvert and husband Jerry, Eugenia Richardson and husband Kenneth; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

As her son said, “Who you saw is who you got.  There is only one version of Betty Miller.  The Sunday morning Betty is the same as the Friday night Betty” and that version was a loving, caring, strong in the Lord, full of grace and mercy woman.  All her family and friends know that she has brought joy to heaven and they see her dancing in the streets of gold.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Central United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Cremation arrangements by Beard’s Funeral Chapel.

Bill & I know you feel our love. Betty was a most special & beloved person and we felt privileged to know her well.
We met her when she came to Hollis with you so you could be the best man in our wedding…1959. So I spent
the night with Betty, like we were girlfriends, the night before we married. Who else could have been so loving
that she became a best friend that night. We miss her but know she’s with the God she
loved so much and loved her. Those of us who loved her and were loved by her will never forget.

I’m so sorry to hear this, mostly for you, Willis, for I know Betty is in a wonderful place and at peace with her body. I know you’ll miss her. May your 61+ years of memories carry you through this time of grief. She was a great lady and I’m proud to say that I knew her through our work at Cooperative Emergency Outreach. I’m glad I got to know her.

I am sorry to learn Betty’s death. I have never met; I do remember your loving description in your face messages. Losing a wife is hard, I speak from experience; I lost Susie in 1996. I also that Jesus heals. God Bless you and family

Growing up I remember Betty’s effervescent smile. She was always kind, always funny and she and Willis were two in one. Seldom did I hear one name without the other. As happens, years passed and I lost touch with my sweet Aunt but always found joy in the pictures of their travel, family and their lives. Her steadfast belief was always present and I know she is celebrating her eternal life.

Were I to compile a short list of the kindest, most genuine women I have known, Betty would be at the top. We especially loved Ben’s comment – she was always authentic, and this world was a better, more joyful place with her presence. What a beautiful legacy she lived out each and every day. Our hearts grieve for Willis, Ben and Tina and their families.
