Beverley Araminta Powell, 93, a resident of Fayetteville, AR passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Katherine’s Place in Fayetteville. She was born August 4, 1927 in Grangeville, Idaho the daughter of Arthur and Hattie Schmadeka. She was united in marriage to Lavona “Darrell” Powell on June 3, 1945. He preceded her in death June 1, 2020. They were married for 75 years.
Beverley and her husband started their family on the west coast. They lived in Oregon and then California. During this time Beverley was a homemaker raising three little ones, two boys and one little girl while her husband was making his career with United Airlines. She continued being a devoted and caring mother and housewife until her husband was transferred to Minneapolis, Minnesota. There, she had the opportunity to enter the corporate world with one of the country’s largest corporation, General Mills. Beverley started entry level, but with those same characteristics she had with raising children and being a devoted wife she advanced in her corporate career with determination to succeed. She eventually reached the office and title of “Claims Analysis Manager.” As retold years later to family that was a position she truly enjoyed, working with all her office partners, having fun but still getting the job done.
Eventually her husbands’ retirement day came and Beverley retired also, though it was a bittersweet end to something she was proud of. As an accomplished mother and housewife and reaching her goal in the corporate world that is something the whole family is proud of.
Beverley’s spiritual beliefs were contained within and normally shared only through her authentic virtues of caring, love, compassion and through joy she would show and give in everyday life. Towards the end of her life she would speak to her daughter about how she is going to heaven and see Jesus and then party!
She is survived by one daughter, Loretta Jelinek and husband Jerry of Elkins, Arkansas; her daughter-in-law, Reva Powell of Illinois; four grandchildren, Robert Powell of Illinois, Amy Lee of Illinois, Jonathan Jelinek of Fayetteville, Arkansas and David Jelinek of Centerton, Arkansas; and many great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Arthur Schmadeka; her mother, Hattie Schmadeka; and her sons, Larry and Lloyd Powell.
Beverley Powell will be inurned with her husband at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel. The family will be celebrating with an informal gathering sharing thoughts and memories of Beverley with a minister to lead with a divinely inspired blessing from the Word of God to bring comfort and guidance for all present.
“Olé Margarita”

I met Beverly when I was a freshman in high school, later becoming her daughter in law. I always found her to be loving and caring. Hope she is having one great party up in Heaven ❤
