Billy Gean Hattabaugh, 85, of Elkins, went to be with his savior on January 5, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born on May 30, 1939 to Robert Hattabaugh and Martha Pauline Starkey. He was raised into farm life and spent some of his childhood in California. Billy worked at saw mills in his younger years and worked at Kearney Electric for 30 years. He briefly worked at Used Oil Service Company for a while. Billy was a man of men, so to speak. He had a love for hunting, fishing, camping, and ATV riding. He liked working on vehicles and going to auctions. He always planted a garden and worked at it passionately raising the best of food and sharing it with others.
Billy attended Baldwin New Life Tabernacle and Hazel Valley Church later on. He was a man of God and loved to sing in church and study the bible.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bessie; his son Bob; his daughter Brenda; brother Dean Hattabaugh; and sister June Fields.
He is survived by his daughter Betty Walker of Springdale; his daughter-in-law Sherrie Hattabaugh of Hazel Valley; and his brothers, Alvin Hattabaugh of Elkins and Juan Hattabaugh (Rosa) of Goshen.
Billy also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, Misti Taylor (Adam), Melissa Mashburn (Curtis), Christy Dye, Hannah Thompson (Derek), Sarah McBroom, Whitney Kincy (Eric), and Logan Hattabaugh (Brittany); 13 great- grandchildren, Bo Dye, Andre Dye, Christopher Griggs, Derrick Griggs (Ellie), Mekenna Taylor, Myia Taylor, Maddey Taylor, Derrick Mashburn, Kaitlyn Mashburn, Emily Mashburn, Allison Hudson, Ruger Thompson, and Walker Ferguson; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Rylie Bella Rosa Griggs.
Billy was a wonderful dad, grandad, brother, uncle, and friend to all. A special thank you goes to Home Helpers and to Misti Taylor and Adam Taylor and Johnnie Immel for all your relentless hours of caregiving and help.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM, Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel with Steve Sullivan officiating. Interment will take place at Hazel Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: Adam Taylor, Logan Hattabaugh, Juan Jr. Hattabaugh, Bo Dye, Andre Dye, and Christopher Griggs.

Mr Bill left a special place in my heart never a dull moment he like to snack I remember this Christmas Eve he said he wanted to watermelon for Christmas so I had so many pick one up for me and it was the worst watermelon ever but he never complained he ate it and just smiled he sure will be missed until we meet again Mr Bill
Billy was a great man and will surely be missed. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved them all dearly.

Mr.billy was a kinda and funny man he always made me smile or laugh, and always ask me what am I cook him for dinner I know his favorite dinner I cooked for him was fried fish,fried potatoes with onions,brown beans home made cornbread It was my honor been able to get know him and help take care of him he well sure be missed
My condolences to all the family!!! Billy was always wearing a big smile and asking about my family. Billy & Bessie were the type that always made you feel loved. It was a blessing to be able to worship with them at Hazel Valley!! He will be missed!!
So sorry to hear about Bill. We worked together at Kearney for a while. He was fun to be around! He will be missed.
My husband and I both worked with Bill at Kearney. He was a good friend and a good worker. We didn’t hear about the funeral in time, or we would have been there. We have lots of memories of good times. Sorry for your loss.
So saddened to read about Billy passing. He was a wonderful and special life-long friend. We grew up together. So many good memories of Billy & Bessie.
