Bobby Hoyt Clark, age 84, of Elkins passed away on Friday the 27th of December 2019.  He was born on September 1, 1935 near Elkins.

He graduated Elkins High school in 1953. He served in the Navy from 1954 to 1957 as a second-class electricians mate. Afterwards, he worked for the Washington County Road Department for about a year before taking a job with the White River Telephone Company. In 1960 he took a job with ITT Telecommunications Department which was later bought out and became Alcatel. He retired from Alcatel in 1993 after 33 years of service as a field engineer and served as a consultant and a contractor for about 3 more years. He enjoyed photography and the outdoors, but his passion was fishing. In 2008 he married Linda-Lee Clark of Elkins.

He was preceded in death by his father, James A Clark; his mother, Macel Vanbrunt Clark of Elkins; and one sister, Virginia Harriman of Fayetteville.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 10 years, Linda, of the home; one son, James Clark and wife, Pam of Elkins; a daughter, Roberta Lyon and husband, Mike of Boulder, CO; five grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary and Chelsea Clark and Henri and Sarah Lyon; two brothers, Max Clark and wife, Letha of Japton, AR and Bruce Clark of Elkins; one sister, Charlotte Morris and husband, Bill of Tennessee; brother-in-law, Gerald Harriman of Fayetteville; and several nieces, nephews and stepchildren.

He was a loving father, grandfather and husband. He also loved a good cigar or his pipe. He was a quiet man of moral character who seldom complained about anything or anyone.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday, December 30, 2019 at Beard’s Chapel.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Beard’s Chapel with Craig Richardson officiating.  Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Washington Regional Hospice or any pet shelter of your choice.
