Bonnie Lou Hawkins, 90, of Elkins, died December 28, 2019 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. She was born April 9, 1929 in Fayetteville to John Sherman and Ruby Springfield Lollar.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, J N Hawkins, Jr; two sons, Jim and Mike Hawkins; and two brothers, Sherman and Jerry Lollar.
Bonnie was a retired nurse. She enjoyed babysitting her grandkids. Weekends at the farm was the highlight of her day with her grandkids. She was the master at making making tacos and cheesecake. Jim and his best friend Larry Nixon loved to eat-on all the leftovers. Larry was Bonnie’s “adopted” son (he was at her house enough!)
She was a volunteer at the Willard Walker Hospice Home.
Bonnie is survived by one sister, Pat Selle of Perryville, AR; daughter-in-law, Carol Hawkins of Fayetteville; daughter-in-law, Diane Hawkins of Prairie Grove; 4 grandchildren, Jay Hawkins, Dana Whitaker, Lindsey Hawkins and Jordon Harris; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, January 3, 2020 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Brookstone Assisted Living for their love for Bonnie and taking great care of her.

Bonnie was such a sweet lady and helped my Mom so much at Brookestone. I have wonderful memories sitting in the sunroom visiting with my Mom and her in the evenings. Loved to hear her talk about the farm. Praying for your family.
We already miss Bonnie at Brookstone — such a beautiful person!
I knew Mrs. Hawkins as a schoolmate of my mother and as the mother of my lifelong friend from high school Mike Hawkins. Many times she graciously welcomed Paul Kuroda, Michel Sage, and I to play our schoolboy board games of Risk and fantasy baseball as we usually played at Mike’s house. Mike took me to visit her at her Elkins farm after our FHS72 twenty year reunion.
God’s sweet name for Merciful Mary
Wish I knew her, distantly related thru my Grandmother Ollie Lollar Holland. Rest in peace.
