Carolyn Louise Young, 68, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, October 19, 2020 in Fayetteville. She was born July 11, 1952 in Lexa, Arkansas to Orval and Geraldine Guthrie Strode.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Strode.
Carolyn was employed at Walmart for over 20 years. She raised cattle and chickens. She enjoyed riding 4-wheelers, her dogs and spending-time with family. Carolyn also enjoyed picture-taking.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerry Young; a son, Mike Young of Elkins; a daughter, Kathy Pifer of Fayetteville; five brothers, Randy, Russell, Dave, Jerry and Ronnie Strode; a sister, Sharon Andrews; 4 grandchildren, Mitchell and Tyler Young and Boston and Trinity Pifer; and 1 great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Beard’s Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 30, 2020 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Reece Cemetery.
I’m still in shock by this. Carolyn was the first friend I made when I transferred to that Walmart. Then I found out I graduated with her grandson. She had an amazing personality and she always knew what to say. She kept the overnight shift lively. She will be truly missed and she was loved by many.

I worked with Carolyn overnight at Walmart. Carolyn had such a funny personality. We always laughed and joked around. She always talked about how much she loved her grandkids. She was a very sweet lady and will be truly missed.

I was Carolyn’s dental hygienist for over 20 years and loved when she had an appointment with me. She is by far one of the sweetest people I have ever known. My prayers go out to Jerry and the rest of the family
