Charles Ray Nichols, veteran of the United States Marine Corps, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of 79.

Charles will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 30 years, Sherry; his children, Mary Richardson (Rich), Tonya Hawkins (Kevin), Julie Jinks, Amanda Jennings, Angela Osburn (Dillon) and Charlse Shaw (Wilburn). He will also be fondly remembered by his 18 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his sister, Carol Miller (Windell); and brother, Jimmy Nichols.

He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Nichols; mother, Velma Nichols; brother, Bill Nichols; sister, Betty Langston (Sidney); and son Frankie Nichols.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Charles was a hard working man whose passions included spending time with and providing for his family. Charles was a proud truck driver for many years until his retirement in September 2018. He inspired others with his strong work ethic, family values, spirituality and continuous need to be productive. Charles brought joy to every person he encountered with his positivity and tales of wisdom. He lived a fulfilling life surrounded by love. Charles was a person of faith, and lived life serving others. His work on earth is finally done, but not forgotten. Gung-ho. Semper Fi.

Visitation will be 8-10:00 AM Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Beard’s Chapel.

Funeral services will follow at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

    I am very sorry to hear about the death of Mr. Nichols. I know that the death of a loved one is not easy but God promises that soon death will be no more. Rev 21:4. Until that time comes may the God of all comfort give you comfort and endurance during your time of loss. Rom 15:4.
