David “Dave” James Stanphill passed away on July 25, 2023, at the age of 69, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born on October 16, 1953, in Springdale, Arkansas to loving parents Paul and Virginia Stanphill. He grew up in Madison County and graduated from Huntsville High School. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War aboard the USS Waccamaw for the US Navy where he “had the time of his life serving with his shipmates”. Following his service, he completed barber college and owned his own business for 36 years.
Dave was an avid angler and hunter. He took many hunting trips with his buddies to Nebraska and South Dakota, patiently waiting for pheasant and turkey. His kayak paddle touched many of the creeks in Northwest and North Central Arkansas, fishing for smallmouth bass with his children and friends.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; brother-in-law, Carroll Falls; step-daughter, Kathryn Heather Burrows, and his canine companions, Jackson and Archie.
He is survived by his two sisters, Pauletta Lynn Falls of Kentwood, MI, and Debbie Sue (Roger) Case of Huntsville; sons Bailey Stanphill(Lori) of Grove, OK, and Jay Stanphill of Fayetteville, AR; daughter Chanel (John) Pennington of Fayetteville, AR; six grandchildren, Paige, Tristan, Sophia, Crispin, and Mia Stanphill of Grove, OK and Nora Pennington of Fayetteville, AR; and friend, Vance Arnold of Fayetteville, AR.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends at the Fayetteville National Cemetery on Friday, July 28th, 2023 at 10:30 am.
Pallbearers will be Bailey Stanphill, Jay Stanphill, John Pennington, and Roger Case.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dave’s name may be made to the Regional National Cemetery Improvement Corporation, P.O. BOX 4221, Fayetteville, Arkansas 72702.
