David was a wonderful friend and co worker to me at West Campus. I was the Administrative Assistant to the Director. David always checked on me to see how things were going and sneaking chocolate milk to me every morning (which I wasn’t supposed to have but always wanted). There is one day that I will always remember, I was supposed to go to my grandsons kindergarten class for his birthday party but things happened that day at school that I couldn’t go. I was trying to figure out what to do when David came in. He knew I was not myself and he asked me what was going on. I explained to him the situation and he looked at me and said don’t worry I will take care of it. He picked up the cupcakes I had for the kids and left the office. I found out later from my grandson, Syd that David had come to Jefferson Elementary and brought the cupcakes to the class and began to play his harmonica and sing happy birthday to Syd while dancing a jig. The kids asked for more songs and dances and David was happy to oblige. That was the kind of man David was, always there for his friends. I will always think of you with a smile in my heart.

David was my cousin and though we did not see one another very much I will always fondly remember the times we had together and the laughs we shared. He was a good guy and served his country with honor. I regret that I will be unable to be at the visitation or funeral, but he and his entire family will be in my prayers. God bless to you all.

Mr. Nutt was a huge influence for me in high school almost 20 years ago. I had just moved to Fayetteville from NY and couldn’t adjust. I’ll never forget what he taught me and how he accepted me and would always be there for me. My heart goes out to his family.

I’ll always remember when some of us went camping when we were kids, sleeping under the stars…me more soundly than the rest. Because I didn’t hear the rain coming. Everyone else took cover and watched while the rain woke me up. Everyone had a good laugh…including me.

My condolences to David’s family. He was well thought of.

Mr. Nutt was one of my favorite teachers back in high school at Paris. I will never forget his yellow shooting glasses and ball cap tucked into his belt during lunch, his infamous “Top Hand Award” and going to the FFA National Convention in 1988 to compete in the National Horticulture Judging Contest. A lot of us worked weekends at his farm planting/picking blueberries. Mr. Nutt made a huge impact on me and I’ll never forget him. May God bless his family during this time of loss.
