Linda, I was shocked when I read Derek’s name in the paper. I am so very sorry for you. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
To the boy I called Fletch-I’ll never forget the day I met you-in the stairwell at work when I ran smack into you & knocked over your crutch after you hurt yourself playing soccer. I was so embarrassed and you wouldn’t stop smiling & trying not to laugh at me. You gave me my 1st promotion, my 1st hug when I had to have surgery, helped me bowl my very 1st strike and let me know when my chick fil a consumption was out of control. You complimented every single razorback shirt I ever wore & explained why “holding” matters in a football game. You were a great man who’s smile you could see in your eyes & I will remember always. Thank you for being you, miss you already.
To Derek’s family-I am so deeply sorry for your loss, you raised a really great man. You are all in my prayers constantly.
Derek was a wonderfully kind hearted man. He is missed terribly. He was always there to help no matter what was needed. Lives were better just by knowing him. I am so sorry for this heartbreaking loss, he was a wonderful person and friend. I will always miss his smile and laugh.
I considered Derek one of my best friends growing up in Hyland Park together. He was the easiest person to hang out with…he was funny and humble and I appreciated that about him. I saw Derek a few weeks ago at a football game and he came up to me and gave me a big hug since we hadn’t seen each other in awhile. We exchanged numbers and promised to catch up soon. I actually emailed him early last week to follow up. When I heard the news I was devasted. Derek was one of the good guys in this world. To Danny, Ryan and Braden, God bless.
I’m so sorry for your lose. Derek was a great kid. Even though I haven’t seen a lot the past several years, when I would run into him somewhere around town or at a football game he would always come up with that big smile on his face to say hi. He will be greatly missed. The entire family is in my prayers.

I am a business associate of Derek’s and although I only had the pleasure of meeting him one time, I was very fortunate to speak with Derek quite often. No matter the subject at hand, our conversations always turned to the important stuff, our personal lives. He was so funny and kind with just the most gentlest, loving soul. I consider Derek a true friend, I feel so fortunate to have known him and I will truly, truly miss him. Please know that you are in my prayers during this unbearable time.

Derek always had a smile on his face. No matter how busy he was he found a minute to help a person with their issue. God must’ve needed an angel. Because he has one in Derek. Please take comfort in the wonderful memories you have of him. His family, friends and coworkers were very blessed to have Derek in their life, even if it was just a moment. God bless Derek.

Derek was a great guy. My wife and I thought a lot of him. We really enjoyed seeing him at shows. He will be dearly missed.
The best part of teaching is growing to love and appreciate so many students and their families through the years. Derek, Ryan, and Braden were three of them. My heart is heavy to hear of the loss of such a great kid. I pray that all of us will draw near to Christ through this time of incredible sorrow and know that God is sovereign. I pray peace and comfort on all of you as you celebrate the life of a caring and kindhearted man. Much love to all of you.

Lewis Clark said it very well. All of the Watson boys were special to me as my students, and more so because I worked with and have been friends with Linda for 25 plus years. We shared stories about our boys, and the love was always so obvious. You have a wonderful family who will help you through this tough time, and your friends will be here for you also. May Derek rest in peace. God bless you all.
Linda and family I’m so sorry for your loss.Y’all will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Even though I haven’t seen Derek in many years, my fond memories of the time we spent together in middle school and high school are very vivid. What I remember most is how genuine he was and how people gravitated towards him because of that. He was one of the friendliest people I knew and always seemed to have a smile on his face and a positive attitude. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
Linda,
Words don’t seem to be enough to provide comfort and support during this difficult time, but I assure you that my thoughts and prayers are with You and your family.

Watson Family…
Words can not express how sorry I am for your loss. I will continue to pray for your family…and that Dereck is at peace.
I was so very sorry to hear about Derek. He was a joy to work with, and was always helpful, friendly, and funny. He always took the time to ask me how I was doing, and would be the first to reach out with any help he could offer. He also sent me the kindest email not that long ago, after I had moved to Denver, just to see how the move was and how things were going. It really meant a lot to me, being in a new place, and I won’t forget that. Derek’s kindness will definitely be missed by many, many people– my condolences to all of his family and friends, all of us are thinking about you in this difficult time.
Always had a smile and a kind heart. He is missed.
Danny and Linda,

Dear Linda and Family,
Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about Derek. I still remember opening the door and seeing his smile along with Ryan when he was a little boy. May the love of those around you help you through the days ahead. Take comfort in knowing an angel is watching over you. Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in our every thoughts during this difficult time.
Love to you all,
