I became good friends with Doris when my Mom Betty Christian introduced us back at the Elkins Community Center dances back in 2005 or so. We hit it off immediately ! We laughed so hard at so many things ! Then I started going with my Mom to play Bingo and have lunch at the Elkins Sr Center. Never a dull moment with Doris ,Sarah, my Mom and myself. She was always a breath of fresh air ! And then Doris lived around the corner from my daughter’s family and Sarah lived two houses down. I know this is lengthy but i wanted to share this with you. So the Sr center director planned a trip to Oklahoma City to sightsee and go to a Thunders Basketball game. We stayed in the Hilton right next to the arena. After the game Doris ,Sara,Mom, and myself all changed into our pj’s and i tought all of them how to play a dice game called Left Right Center….and yes we played with money ! My Mom and I will greatly miss her ❤

On behalf of the friends & members of First Baptist Church Elkins, I offer condolences on the passing of “Miss Doris.” I can see her in my mind’s eye now, on the left hand side of the worship center, fourth pew from the back, first seat off the aisle. She always wore a smile & had a kind word for everyone. She will be sorely missed. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.” Psalm 116:15

It’s such a sad day for us at the Elkins Senior Activity and Wellness Center. It’s so hard to say good bye to Doris. She truly brought such joy to this center with her beautiful smile, always enjoying and living life to the fullest. Always up for a dance, or card game, a hike, always making friends with everyone, always gentle, and kind. It’s very hard to put into words how much we will miss this fine lady. May all her beauty and energy live on through everyone’s life she touched. We will miss Doris so very, very much. Good bye sweet friend.
My heart has been so heavy. I myself was going through pictures in my mom’s closet and found so many pictures of Aunt Doris..so cute, so sassy, just an absolute sweetheart! I’m going to miss her so much!
I am thankful and comforted to know that my mom has her sister there with her.
