Edna Jean Salsbury was called Home by her Heavenly Father on June 8th, 2024, in Fayetteville, AR. She was born December 16th, 1932, to David and Bessie Cowan Burnett in Washington County. She graduated high school from Greenland in 1949 and was a girls’ basketball team member. Later that same year, she would meet Vol Salsbury who would end up trading his convertible to buy her an engagement ring. Edna became his bride on February 2nd, 1950.
Edna was a licensed cosmetologist and owned and operated Baldwin Beauty for 42 years. The small shop still serves as a Baldwin community landmark, and for all who knew Edna, a reminder of good times and friendship shared.
Edna had many hobbies and skills. She was an excellent cook and gardener. She nurtured a variety of vibrant flowers that adorned her home. She enjoyed sports and was part of a bowling league for many years. She remained an avid Razorback fan.
She took the most joy in her family. She was a doting wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
Above all, Edna was a devout Christian who served the Lord faithfully. She lived her life according to His word. It would be her wish that everyone would come to know Jesus as their Savior so they, too, can have eternal life. She was a dedicated member of Round Mountain Baptist Church for over 70 years.
Edna is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Vol Salsbury, and her son, Gerald Salsbury, sister, Judy VanZandt, and brother Hubert Burnett.
She is survived by her son, Bryce Salsbury, and grandchildren, Gerald Whitney Salsbury (Jenifer) and Suzzanne Salsbury (Chris), daughter-in-law, Kathryn Salsbury, two great-granddaughters, and two great-great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Stuart Estes officiating. Interment will follow in Round Mountain Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service-time on Thursday at the funeral home.

So sorry for your loss. Your family is in my prayers and thoughts.
So sorry to hear of Edna Jean’s passing. It was hard to believe she was 91 because her mind was as sharp as ever. I won’t be able to attend the service, but will be thinking of you all. I know she’s having a wonderful reunion with all her loved ones who were waiting for her in heaven.
Edna was a lovely person. She and my mom became friends when she had her beauty shop. Edna had a “can do” attitude and had such a good heart. I recall how she went to a rehab place to do a lady’s hair because she just wanted to help this lady she did not even know. And she did love her family. I’m a better person for knowing her.
Condolences to the family of Edna. I visited her shop many times and those ladies stayed busy and friendly. She had a great clientele for many year’s.
