Edward John “Eddie” Steinert, of Springdale, passed away June 23, 2024, in Fayetteville.  He was born September 4, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Irwin Joseph Steinert and Mary Peters Steinert.  The family moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1954.  Eddie grew up in Pico Rivera and attended Catholic schools, graduating from Loyola High School and Santa Clara University. He was offered a full four year scholarship to UCLA to play football.  He lived in 25 different places before settling in Pettigrew, AR in 1974 to start one of the area’s first alternative schools.  While education was always his passion, he worked his entire life as a driver and then as a trucking company owner. He was a friend to everyone he met and enjoyed repeating his favorite quote “If it’s not illegal, immoral or unsafe then do what you are told.”

Eddie is survived by his five children, Kaedon Steinert (Shannon); Keda S. McCall (Jamie); Dejka Araujo; Sheldon Steinert (Mallory); and Blake Steinert; ten grandchildren Olivia, Kaedon and Evan Steinert; Johnathan and Paige Araujo; Erowyn, Simon, Laura and Kara Steinert; and Sofia Blakely Steinert; and his former wife and good friend Kathy Steinert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM Saturday, June 29, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Thanks for Raising a son who saw the struggles in this market we live in and giving drivers like us a chance to become owner operators for a lot of us this would not be possible, But because of you being a father to your son you made this possible for so many of us and were thankful for you and you family, to the remaining family prayers going up so blessings can rain down. Condolences to each and everyone of you.

My Grandmothers Father was Ed and her brother was Eddie Jr. and her husband was Ed, so I named my son Eddie. That was a connection I had with Eddie Steinert. When I first started working for the trucking company, Eddie was the first person to greet me. I enjoyed talking to him and he was always kind to me. I miss him still.
