From humanist to theist, no belief system seems sufficient for the death of one’s child, either short term or long. And in the absence of personal acquaintance, words of sympathy might sound borrowed. That I did not know your son, or that he was ill, I hope to remedy soon, and be some support, as soon as you think it appropriate for my visit. Jo joins me in reaching out to you in feeling. Dear Jane,
I was saddened to read of Frank’s passing. I remember our visits about your life and children. You were blessed to have Frank close, but Helen and John are so far away.

I wanted to write to or call you but St. Thomas has only your old Peachtree address and the phone # I have is no longer in service. Would you call me (479-283-9210)? I would love to have a visit with you. You’ll remember me better when you remember my sweet mom, Anna Mae Fitch, and our visits with you at St. Thomas and in your home and mine.
