In Loving Memory of Gary Wayne Smith

Gary Wayne Smith AKA “Bimmy” 72, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026. He was born on February 9, 1954.

Gary was a hardworking and devoted family man who retired from the University of Arkansas after 10 years of dedicated service. He was always on the go and rarely sat still. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially looked forward to his almost daily store trips with his brother, Kirk Deffebaugh and his friend Roscoe Deffebaugh. Those simple outings brought him happiness and created many cherished memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Smith and Florence Miller; his son, Gary Smith; and his siblings, Pat Miller, Beverly Keller, and Barry Miller.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Kalee Smith, and his son, David Blackburn. He is also survived by his siblings, Kirk Deffebaugh, Pam Miller, Carol Ball, and Curtis Dabney.

He was a proud grandfather to Marika, Breanne, Tyler, Makiyah, Kellen, Korbin, Kaydence, Kentrell, Zyir, Zy’Mariah, and Zy’Kiyah. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, who brought him tremendous joy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Gary’s life, share memories, and celebrate the love and legacy he leaves behind.

Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His kindness, his love for his family, and the many moments he shared with those closest to him will never be forgotten. May his memory bring comfort to all whose lives he touched.

    Bimmy was a great neighbor lived next to him for almost 6 years, always enjoyed talking to him and enjoyed the smell of him always grilling out, my prayers and condolences to his family
