Geoffrey Shaw Wainscott, 48, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024. He was born August 27, 1975, to Ronald and Debbie Wainscott in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, but typically asked people not to hold that against him. Geoff was born theatrical and named appropriately; his English major mom and theater professor dad named him after author Geoffrey Chaucer and playwright George Bernard Shaw.
Throughout childhood Geoff had energy to spare, and by high school he was participating in multiple sports. His passion was football, however, particularly the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Chicago Bears, and he always dreamed of actually playing for the Hogs. His dream came true in 1996 when he was able to walk on to the team.
In 1996 Geoff also met his future wife, Laura. They were married September 12, 1998. Their 25 years of marriage were filled with affection and love. Geoff and Laura went on to have two cherished sons. Along with his faith, his family–and friends who became like family–were the most important things to Geoff.
Geoff worked hard to support his family. He first got a commercial driver’s license through University of Arkansas Razorback Transit, eventually using his CDL at Pepsi for 20 years. After retiring from Pepsi, he returned to Transit.
In his spare time Geoff loved playing video games, something he passed on to his sons. He was also well known for his sense of humor.
Geoff is survived by his wife Laura (Parker) Wainscott; his sons Geoffrey Tyler Wainscott and Shawn Parker Wainscott; his mother Debbie (Goff) Wainscott; and his grandmother Dorothy Goff; along with aunts, uncles, and an ever-growing number of cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 29, 2024, at Beard’s Funeral Chapel.
I’ll be out of town on a trip to New Orleans on that day but my thoughts and heartfelt good wishes go to the bereaved. Geoff was a bright light in the world and I’m very pleased and honored to have known him.

I gave Geoff his lunch break on his route 11b, always tried to give him a hard time , but I got it right back from Geoff, In gonna miss those moments and Geoff.
I watched Geoff grow up across the street and then after you were married I watched his boys as children in the same house. This does not seem real that Geoff has died at such a young age. Laura my deepest sympathy.
Laure, thoughts and prayers to you and all family members.
Geoff and Laura are solid people. I am thankful for the hope that springs eternal. We love you and are so sorry to hear of Geoff’s passing.
Laura, Tyler, Shawn & Debbie: Know that God gives comfort to those who mourn. Never forget that Family, Friends and Faith will be there to help you navigate through this time of emotional chaos in each of your lives. I offer you my prayers for Peace to you all.
I remember, when Geoffrey was little, he would come to visit me in the music office at church. He knew I always had candy in my drawer, and he was interested in it! He was such a cute little guy and grew up to be a handsome man and it sounds like he was a wonderful husband and father. I’m so very sorry for your loss. I can’t even imagine what you’re feeling, but my prayers are with you and the family.
