Geraldine Coleman, age 91, passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home on June 7, 2023.

Geraldine was born November 18, 1931, in Durham, Arkansas, to Lona Belle Long. She was raised by her grandparents, George and Betty Long. She grew up in Hazel Valley, surrounded by beautiful mountains, trees, flowers, gardens, wildlife, good people, God, and family who loved her. When she was in the 9^th grade, they moved to town, where she graduated from Hillcrest High School.

Geraldine was a true Christian woman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. Geraldine worked hard at home and her job, retiring from Campbell Soup after 34 years. Her hands were rarely idle. She loved to crochet, embroider, sew quilts and clothes for her children, plant flowers and vegetables, and fish with her husband, Jim, at Roaring River. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds and spending time with her family. They always have a special memory to share about their mom, sister, aunt, or grandma.

She was a great cook, and her family has fond memories of meals gathered around her table with great foods such as big steaming bowls of chocolate gravy, white gravy, homemade biscuits, fried potatoes, BBQ & fried chicken, and Red Velvet cake. Geraldine also added her home-canned vegetables from her garden to her delicious meals.

Geraldine was a strong woman. Very few knew her hardships, for she would never complain or speak of them. Instead, she always chose to look on the bright side, quickly forgiving those who wronged her and finding the good in everyone while keeping her heart focused on God. She helped many people and had a very kind heart.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Betty Long; her mother, Lona Belle Warford; her husband, James Coleman; her sons, Jackie and Donnie Coleman, Grandsons, Jason Barron and Justin Williams; brothers, Norman and Dewey Warford; sisters, Lena Jo Hankins, Wilda Kellar, Dolly Black, and Mildred Roach.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Joyce Barron of Fayetteville, Debra (Jerry) Williams of Jonesboro, Charles Coleman of Fayetteville, and Carolyn (Juan) Oviedo of Fayetteville. Grandchildren, Jeremy Coleman, Lavina Coleman, Stephanie Stanley, Jamie Coleman, Alicia Murrison, John Coleman, Deana Wilhite, Kim Pennington, Nicole Barron, Josh Barron, Jenna Scott, Jason Williams, Gerea Hotchkin, and Roger Williams. Twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; Her brothers, Willis (Son) Warford, Johnny Warford, and Garrett (Dude) Warford) as well as a host of family and friends.

Everyone who was blessed to know her will miss her kind, gentle, friendly personality.

Pallbearers are Jamie Coleman, Joshua Barron, JShawn Franklin, Jake Ketcher, Justin Murrison, Kyle Murrison, Lane Wilhite, and Cole Wilhite. Honorary Pallbearers are Roger Williams, Jeremy Coleman, and John Coleman.

Visitation is Friday, June 9, 2023, from 5 -7 pm at Beard’s Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 10, 2023, at noon at Beard’s Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas, officiated by Pastor Jasper Hankins, with burial following at Whitehouse Cemetery.
