Glen Thomas “Tommy” Undernehr, May 18, 1951~June 7, 2020

Jun 17, 2020

Glen Thomas “Tommy” Undernehr, age 69, passed away in Springdale on June 7, 2020. He was born on May 18, 1951 in Rogers, AR to Edward and Georgia (Hedrick) Undernehr.

Tommy was well-known around the Rogers area. If he wasn’t working on some car, he could normally be found at the local breakfast joint with a cup of coffee. In his younger years, he was also widely considered one of the better pool players in the area. Professional players and gamblers of the time gave him the nickname “Arkansas Tom”.

Tommy was a generous man. He was always willing to help those in need with mechanical problems whether it was with a car, truck, dump truck, or airplane. When any of his friends or acquaintances were in the hospital or sick at home, Tommy would visit them often, and assist them as he could, even if Tommy himself was sick. Of all his deeds, visiting the sick was probably the least noticeable by others, but most valuable.

He is survived by his son, Glen Thomas Undernehr Jr; granddaughters, Avery, Chloe, Olivia, Sara and Teagan; great-granddaughter, Clara ; brothers, George Undernehr of Bentonville and Ray Undernehr of Rogers; sister, Hilda Upton of Rogers; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by both parents; sister, Kathy Undernehr; brothers, Marvin, Jim and Ralph Undernehr.

A celebration of life service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society.

Cremation arrangements by Beard’s Funeral Chapel.

I’ve known Tommy for over 30 years. For me he was a protective big brother, a great friend, stepped up when my Father passed away, always bringing laughter and joy. Tommy was one of a kind, heart of gold, a pure soul. I am forever grateful that Tommy came in my life. Love you Tommy.

I always enjoyed joining Tom, Marvin and George (my dad) for breakfast at Wesner’s. The conversations were always interesting. It seemed that every other person that walked through the door would say hi to Tom.

On more than one occasion, he diagnosed my car trouble by listening through the phone or just from me describing the noise.

Tom was a good uncle and he will be missed. He always treated me with respect, honesty, generosity and friendliness. That is the kind of uncle that I try to be.
