Goldie Josephine Young, 90, of Elkins passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at her home. She was born May 26, 1926 to Walter and Nellie Stout Skelton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvil Leonard Young; 2 daughters, Martha Stancell and Joyce Stockton; grandsons, Forrest Creed Stancell III and Ken Moore.
Goldie retired from Campbell Soup. She was a member of McCord Church in Elkins.
She is survived by 2 sons, Norman and Ervin Young of Elkins; 5 daughters, Reba Boatright and husband, Jerry of Springdale, Linda Moore of Elkins, Janice Harrod and husband, Mark of Elkins, Brenda Morgan of St. Paul and Loyce Smith and husband, Joey of Elkins; brothers, Warren Skelton of Lincoln, Verl Skelton of Fayetteville and Ervil Skelton of Gentry; 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:30 P.M. Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Beard’s Chapel with Reverend Homer Davis officiating. Interment will follow in McCord Cemetery under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the funeral home.
Linda and Reba, may prayers comfort you at this time. I have good childhood memories of your Mom. I always enjoyed the sleep overs. Your Mom was fun to be around. Our moms couldn’t drive, but now they have their wings and flying around heaven. Prayers to the Family

Aunt goldie was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. Dan and I were always welcomed in her house at anytime and she always had to fix us a meal. She will truly be missed. Look forward to seeing her in heaven. Praying for all the family. Love, Linda
Sorry to hear of Goldie’s death. She was a great mother, mother-in-law and grandmother, I will always have good memories of her. I won’t be able to attend the service but all the family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
