Henry “Beau” Shifflett Jr., 68, of Farmington, Arkansas, passed away Friday, October 16, 2026, in Fayetteville. He was born September 30, 1958, in Sweetwater, Texas, to Reverend Henry Floyd Shifflett Sr. and Dorothy Hines.
Beau’s life took him across the United States, traveling with his family as a “fruit-pickin’ hippie” a job title you don’t see on many résumés. He began raising his family in Sweetwater in 1977 before moving to Northwest Arkansas in the 1990s. In 1998, he married Ann Davidson, bringing their families together.
With his sense of humor and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, Beau found success in car sales, becoming Northwest Arkansas’ number-one car salesman. He never met a stranger, which certainly didn’t hurt business.
In the early 2000s, he and Ann returned to Sweetwater to care for his parents. There, he discovered his passion for working as a “safety guy” in the wind industry. Following his parents’ passing, they returned to Northwest Arkansas, where Beau shared that passion by teaching safety at Northwest Arkansas Community College. He later retired from Black Hills Energy, where he continued his work as the “safety guy.” From fruit-pickin’ hippie to safety professional, Beau covered quite a bit of ground.
But of all the jobs Beau held, being a dad was his number-one favorite. He and Ann built a big, blended family, and no professional title ever meant more to him than “Dad.” It was the job he loved most, and the one he never retired from.
Beau will be remembered for his great sense of humor, the conversations he could strike up with just about anyone, and the love he had for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Hank Shifflett; his sister, Samantha Shifflett; his brother, David Shifflett; his granddaughter, Ryleigh; one niece; and two nephews.
Beau is survived by his wife, Ann Shifflett; his children, Steven Esteves, Matthew Shifflett (Carmen Shifflett), Natasha Lamproe, Nicholas Fitts (Courtney Green), Travis Shifflett (Will Lazenby), Mel Ross, Whitnee Lowe (Mason Lowe), and Ashley Shifflett (Kevin Snider); 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Carolyn Easter; and his mother-in-law, Joyce Davidson. He also leaves behind more nieces and nephews than we could possibly name, along with extended family and friends he adored.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel.
