Hilda Maxine Siemsen Marley, July 16, 1930~December 31, 2020

Jan 2, 2021

Hilda Maxine Siemsen Marley, age 90 of Elkins, AR, passed away December 31, 2020. Hilda was born in Pine Bluffs, WY, to parents John Rector Siemsen and Clara Alfreda Swanberg Siemsen.

For more than 60 years, Hilda, husband Joe Ben and son Jeff dedicated their lives to the family farm in Elkins. She raised chickens for Tyson Foods until she was 80 years old. If she was not in the chicken houses she could often be found checking cows in her red Jeep or green Mule. She was well known for her home cooking and anyone who stopped by around noon was greeted with sweet tea and lunch – if you left hungry it was your own fault she always said. While she wasn’t one for hobbies, she spent time refurbishing antique furniture. She loved working alongside her five grandkids, taught them hard work and always had sweet treats to fill them up at the end of a long day.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Marley, daughter Susan Marley Curtis (survived by husband Mark) of Rogers, AR, father John “Bonco” of Scottsbluff, NE, mother Alfreda “Freda” of Pine Bluffs, WY, and infant sisters Dorothy Analisa and Helen Ester of Pine Bluffs, WY.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Jeff Marley (wife Marsha) and Sara Marley (late husband Randy Holiman) of Elkins; niece Sharon Smith of Rogers, nephew Michael Smith (wife Brenda) of Columbia, MO; sisters Irene Everhart of Brush, CO, and Hazel Brown of Rogers, AR; brothers Jack Siemsen of Meridian, ID, Jim Siemsen of Scottsbluff, NE, and Ed Siemsen of Woodward, OK; and grandchildren Kinlee Wolff (husband Tyler), Kara Marley, Morgan Boecker (husband Andy), Jeffrey and Jacob Marley; great grandchildren Kasen and Korbin Wolff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the staff at Washington Regional Medical Center and North Hills Life Care and Rehab for their excellent care over the last few months.

Visitation will be Monday, January 4, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Beard’s Funeral Chapel, 855 S. Happy Hollow Rd., Fayetteville, AR.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at McCord Cemetery in Elkins with Phillip Curlee officiating.

What a nice obituary. I first met aunt Hilda when Michael and I got married. I kept telling Michael that it was such a big ask, but when we showed up at The door her and uncle Joe made Tyler and I feel so welcome. Two days later she hosted our wedding! I’m a farm girl but I knew nothing of chickens at such a volume. I will never forget the crash course I got from aunt Hilda. It takes special people to open their hearts and their home to so many. I will always treasure my memories. God bless all of you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Much love, Michael and Brenda

I am so sorry to hear we lost Hilda. Kevin & I are so happy we went to the Birthday Bash in Branson, Missouri a few years ago. We got to finally meet all of the cousins & their family. It was a special & fun time with so many memories. This picture of Hilda is just how I remembered her. Know we have you in our heart with lots of love for all of our family. Hope to be able to see more of our big family as Kevin retired in October. When Covid allows travel & visiting we hope to keep the roads hot.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I wanted you to know that I appreciated so much the work that your folks gave me during the hay seasons. It helped pay for my college education. I concur with your obituary related to Hilda’s cooking. If you left hungry it was “definitely” your own fault. She truly was an excellent cook. May the wonderful memories of her carry you all through this time of sorrow until that happy reunion day! Love to one and all. Old time friends….the Leonard and Mary Gabbard family.
