James “Tex” Elvin Holter, July 3, 1956~February 18, 2019

James “Tex” Elvin Holter, 62, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, February 18, 2019 at his home.  He was born July 3, 1956 in Minneapolis, MN to Elvin Roy and Adeline Lusty Holter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Diane Christianson; and a grandson.

Tex was a Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War.  He was a retired water treatment operator.  Tex loved animals, especially horses and cats.

He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Matthews and husband, Chris of Huntsville and Heather Holter of Freeport, TX; two brothers, Chuck Holter and wife, Kathy of Murchison, TX and Jerry Holter and wife, Paula of Sulphur Bluff, TX; two sisters, Pamela Solomon and husband, Sean of New York City, NY and Tandy Belt and husband, Roy of Eureka Springs, AR; five grandchildren, Tiffany, Christina, Logan, Caleb and Lilly; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, February 25, 2019 at Beard’s Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery with military honors.

There is no scheduled visitation.

    I worked with James at the HVR ranch for a while. He was always there talking to the animals and not just the farm animals. Its was the wild animals too, squirrel, deer,wolf etc. He was always there when I would have a bad day. And so kind to my very ill husband to. He took time without being asked to make ramps so Wendell could get on the porch and out the doors. That’s just how thoughtful and kind he was. He had something nice to say about his whole family and how much they all meant to him. James loved God so I will see you again “my friend”

    He was very happy and wonderful man I loved the man he was my first love and best friend even though I put him through hell growing up but he was always there for me when I needed someone to talk to no matter what time it was
