James “Tuffy” Thomas Harp, 90, of Fayetteville passed away Monday, September 7, 2026 in Springdale. He was born May 17, 1936 in Eureka Springs to Hollie and Sylvia Mahurin Harp.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hollie and Sylvia Harp; his wife Billie Harp; a son Mike Harp; four brothers; and three sisters.
Tuffy had been employed at AmeriGas for 40-plus years. In addition, he had previously worked at Acme Janitorial for approximately 10 years. Tuffy attended the Lincoln and Prairie Grove Senior Activity Centers. He played on the Huggers Bean Bag Baseball Team of Prairie Grove. Tuffy was of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by two sons, Rodney Harp (Fawn) of Siloam Springs and Josh Harp (Lacey) of Bella Vista; two brothers, Tony Harp of Bella Vista and Dale Harp (Betty) of Farmington; a sister Jeannie Mhoon (Ricky) of Farmington; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Preston Beeks officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until service-time at the funeral home on Saturday.
Interment will follow in Dowell Cemetery in Fayetteville.
Tuffy was a great man.
Use to see him often when he worked for Amerigas.
He was a joy to be around.
Tuffy was one of the first neighbors my son and I met upon our move into Northwest Arkansas. We lived across the street and enjoyed getting to know him, his days racing cars…a short time , but a memorable time . Our condolences to his immediate family and friends st this time.
I knew Tuffy for about 40 plus years.\n He was my stepson’s Grandpa. He always had a smile on his face. Always happy, always easy to get along. He will be messed by a lot of people. They don’t make men like him no more. Sorry for the lost of the family. Everybody loved him. His wife was a very special woman, too.
What a great brother and so many good memories. We had a great time playing toss baseball, dances and eating together.

I met Tuffy the first time I walked into the Lincoln Senior center to join the band,he was the first person I met there and he greeted me and made me feel welcome,I always enjoyed seeing him at the dances HE made me smile.He will be missed.

As most everyone has said, Tuffy was a special friend. I’ve known Tuffy & Billie since the late 70’s. Billie was our first baby sitter (for five years). She was the best as well as Tuffy. What a privilege it has been to have known them. I count myself very lucky to call Tuffy “friend”. Never, ever seen Tuffy without a smile. If we could all be like Tuffy.
Sorry for you’ll loss. I have lots of memories with him at the dirt tracks . Will be missed.

Tuffy was a special person. He always greeted us with a smile, and a hug or a handshake at the jam on Tuesday mornings at the Lincoln Senior Center. He was always pleasant and friendly. He will be greatly missed!
We met Tuffy at the Prairie Grove Senior Center and only knew him for a few short weeks. Ironically, it felt like we’d known him for years – his smile, his hugs, his good heart were infectious! We were looking forward to a long lasting friendship, however our Maker had other plans for this good man. Rest in peace, Tuffy, and know you’ve made positive impacts on your friends and neighbors! Our prayers for healing go out to the entire Harp family.
Sometimes you meet someone that is truly special. Some 40 years ago we met Tuffy and he certainly filled that description. Never met anyone that was more caring and concerned about helping people. A guardian Angel has gone home!

I have known tuffy scince we were teenagers.I would ride on his motor scooter together.
Tuffy is definitely one of Kind, and it is a True Honor to have known him. Great Heart and Personality cannot say enough about him. It was great times on our motorcycle’s rides. True craftsman shown in whatever he made, especially His Trike! Heaven says Welcome Home Tuffy.
Tuffy would never fail to stand up and make us feel welcome. He would hold the door for my wife like a gentleman. Always ready to smile and laugh. The dances will have a little less joy and one less dancer Truly a likeable man. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

Uncle Tuffy has always been loved by me. He was always making sure that our family was okay. He had a heart of gold. Even now…I can hear his laughter, and hear his voice. I will forever think of him, and reminisce all the things in my life, to have known my wonderful Uncle. God will give him peace. Uncle Tuffy, I loved you always…and I know that I will see you again when my journey ends. Save a cloud for me, when God needs me. I will always respect Tuffy. He was a wonderful soul.
