James Willis Denton, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022. He was born January 24, 1941 in Portland, OR to Eligah Samuals Denton and Gladys Faye Holden.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Virginia Louthan; and his son, Bryan Denton.
He is survived by a brother, Bill Denton and his wife Beverly; a sister, Sharon Bryant; a son, Jesse Denton and wife Karen; a son, Richard Denton and wife Sharon; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was loved.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Beard’s Chapel.
Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery with military honors.

Jesse, and all the family of Jimmy, we send our thoughts and love to you today. Red and I stood up for him and your mom on their wedding day. You all are family and we love seeing you on FB, since we are too far away for visits. May God bless you through the years. I know you will miss Jimmy, but you were very good to him. ❤️
