Jared Wayne “J-Rod” Porter, December 25, 1986~January 1, 2019

Jan 8, 2019

Jared Wayne “J-Rod” Porter was a beloved son, brother and active member of his community. For many years, he worked to help build the family business, Bub’s Inc. where he worked as a plant engineer. When he wasn’t working, he could be found playing a round of paintball, hunting at the family cabin, or cooking up a tasty meal for friends and family. Jared had a devoted passion for playing music; starting with clarinet in the school band and later moving to electric guitar. He was most happy when he sat down to learn the latest riff he’d heard, or watch his favorite TV shows quoting along to all the lines he knew. He was a witty, loyal and loving soul who always took joy in making those around him happy. Jared’s wienie dog, Dime was the love and light of his life, following him anywhere he went. His smile and laughter was infectious and could instantly take over a room. In his last two years of his life, he moved to California where he built a great network of friends for support. There he loved hanging out at the beach, working out at the gym and donating his time to community support groups. Jared lived and loved life to the fullest and will be dearly missed by the many lives he touched on this earth. He had so much more to see in this world, but sadly was cut short. His song may have ended, but his melody will play in our hearts forever.

Jared is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Lora Jean Porter and Betty Kitchen.

He is survived by his father, Randy Porter; his mother and stepfather, Lora and Bub Taylor; his brother and his wife, Tyler and Jennifer Porter; stepbrothers, Bobby and Aaron Taylor and their wives, Cassandra and Amber Taylor; his grandfather, Leon Porter; his beloved dog, Dime; and a wonderful family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and close friends.

A service (gathering of family and friends) will be held to celebrate his memory on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 1-3 PM at Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville, AR.

Jared meant a lot to me. I absolutely jumped at the opportunity to be his date to senior prom when he asked. I couldn’t have conceived of a better person to make memories with on a such monumental event of a person’s lifetime. We had an absolute blast, as I knew we would. Jared was there from my earliest memories of Fayetteville, on. Group camping trips were not complete if he wasn’t there. And the gatherings out at his barn bring nostalgia to me that will forever highlight some of the best nights of my life. Everybody loved Jared. He was a light. The mere mentioning of his name elicits a feeling of joy. This type of joyous personality is evidence of a family that cultivated him in a lot of love. Thank you to each of Jared’s family members for your roll in Jared’s life, as the love you showed him was felt by his many friends through him, by extension. I give my deepest condolences to his loved ones. May God wrap his arms around all of you and keep you strong during this time. Love is eternal and the spirit never dies.

Perhaps they are not stars, but rather
openings in Heaven where our loved ones shine down
to let us know they are happy
