Jimmy Ray Lackey, 75, of Fayetteville passed away Friday, November 3, 2023 in Fayetteville. He was born June 28, 1948 in Combs, AR to Gus and Mary (Patrick) Lackey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughters Mary Ellen and Melissa Lackey; his sisters Marie Allen, Drue Walker, Flora McCarty, and Alice Rhine; and brothers Vol and Lee Lackey.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gloria Sexton Lackey; daughter Teresa Lackey; grandchildren Morgan Lackey and Noah Williams; and great-granddaughter Sona Pawar.
Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping out at the cabin whenever he had the chance. But more than anything, he loved his family and spending time with them. He was employed by the University of Arkansas for 40 years and a Razorback fan for life.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 5-7 PM at Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.
Services will be Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 10 AM at Beard’s Chapel. Burial will follow in Combs Cemetery in Combs, AR.
I am sorry to hear of Mr. Lackey’s death. He and his wife Gloria used to live behind my grandmother, Anna Jordan and grandmother used to take care of his daughter Teresa. My prayers are with the family during this time. Many blessings for his family.
Sorry to hear of Jimmy passing away. Jimmy was a very good friend. I worked with Jimmyat at unversity of arkansas grounds shop I hired Jimmy in 1971 wedone a lot work together He was a very good equipment operator allso good at tree work Gloria & Teresa &Grandchilren and family have my deepest symapty.may God be with you and comfort you friends Tillman &Dora Tabor

Jimmy’s friendship will be missed by many friends!!! I loved to visit with Jimmy at his home!!! Jimmy and Gloria would be playing cards or games together and Jimmy would say Gloria won most. Jimmy loved spending time with her and his family! I worked with Jimmy and went deer hunting with him at his two places in Combs! He was a Joy to be with and I will miss him calling me to see how we were doing and how the Colorado weather was. My prayers 🙏🙏🙏 for Gloria and the family!!! I will keep all the Wonderful and Awesome Memories we had together to Honor a Great Man!!!

I worked with Jimmy for many years at the UofA before he retired. We would talk deer hunting all the time. We worked on a lot of projects together, he was a good tradesman.
Very sorry to hear about Jimmys passing. We always thought the world and all for him and his family. He was a great friend and coworker.
First thing I noticed about Jimmy when I came to the University was that he was a hard worker, he always was busy and did an amazing job on anything he was assigned………so sorry to hear of his passing.

Sorry to learn of Jimmy’s passing. I worked with him at the University where, as others have noted, he was both skilled and willing. I remember him with his trademark grin or, at the very least, always a smile. He was a good guy to have around and will be missed.
