Jo Ann McChristian, 85, of Fayetteville, Arkansas went peacefully into the arms of her Savior Wednesday, July 22, 2026.  The daughter of Dillard Hall and Kathryn Sallee Hall, she was a lifelong resident of Fayetteville.

Jo retired from the University of Arkansas in 2006 having worked in student housing for many years. She was a member of Center Street Church of Christ.

Jo was a gardener. She loved to plant anything and watch it grow. She loved people and was always ready to share the Good News of Christ with anyone who would take the time to listen.  She also loved silly jokes, and would gleefully share her latest favorite with all of her friends.  But more than anything else she loved the Lord, with all her heart.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert McChristian; two brothers, Gary G. Hall and Dillard R. Hall; a sister Lou Owens; and her son-in-love Charles Cash.

She is survived by her brother Kenneth Hall and wife Marcia of Georgia; a sister Betty Smijder of California; her daughters, Kelly Swisher and husband, David of Fayetteville and Rebecca Cash of Hope, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren, Jamie Pearson and husband Terry of Bossier City, Louisiana, Thomas McCawley and wife Julie of Alpena, Arkansas, Joshua McCawley and wife Leslie of Lincoln, Arkansas, and Cody Cash of Hope, Arkansas; and 10 great-grandchildren.

There will be a private burial Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Bohannan Mountain Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life with potluck dinner will be held Sunday, August 2, 2026, 1pm in the Hogbox Event Room, 2900 City Lake Road, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

In honor of Jo and her love of blooms, and in lieu of plants and flowers, plant some flowers in her memory.

Jo’s last favorite joke:  “Why do cows wear bells?” “Because their horns don’t work.”
