John Robert Gideon, 82, of Bella Vista, Arkansas passed away December 8, 2023. He was born to Alton and Floy Gideon on January 29, 1941, in Hoyt, Oklahoma.
John graduated from Mt. Diablo High School located in Concord, California. He later attended Diablo Valley College where he received an Associate in Arts degree and continued his education at California State University, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After college, he made his career working in the bearing industry, retiring from U.S. Bearing Company. He was a dependable co-worker, fierce boss, and respected colleague. During his time with the company, he lived in California, Texas, Florida, and North Carolina and visited numerous other states. John spent his most recent years in Bella Vista and Fayetteville, Arkansas to be close to his grandchildren.
John held many titles in life; father, husband, boss, and friend but his favorite role by far was being a grandfather. He truly enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren beginning with summer swimming, back-to-school clothes, and many additional activities throughout their lives. He had a big heart with a soft spot for his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed a good (or bad) round of golf with his friends. He enjoyed a good scotch on the rocks and watching football on Sundays. He loved sitting around telling stories and laughing but his favorite thing was his family. He was most assuredly an essential part of it and will be deeply missed.
John is survived by his sister Roma Kissinger of Citrus Heights, California; his wife Karen Gideon Fletcher; daughters Genoah Billiet and Crysan Lawless; a son Paul Billiet; his beloved grandchildren are Arianna, Alexis, Landry, Rory, Londyn, Sierra, Emmy, and John.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alton and Floy Gideon and brother Burville J. Bradford.
