Julius “Ray” Davis, 79, of Fayetteville, passed peacefully at Walnut Grove Nursing Home on September 6, 2019.  He was born April 23, 1940 in Elkins to Raymond and Irene Ledford Davis.

Ray was an account manager for Standard Register for 38 years before retiring in 1999.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and he was an avid Razorback fan, golfer, enjoyed traveling, fishing and was a daily newspaper reader.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Gene Davis of Fayetteville.

Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce Terry Davis; one daughter, Trinda Wood and husband, Tim of Springdale; and son, Duane Davis and wife, Martha of Fayetteville; a sister-in-law, Jacque Davis of Fayetteville; and 4 grandchildren, Coleman and Cory Wood, Raelyn and Denver Davis.

Funeral services will 2 PM Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. Clark Nolan officiating.  Burial will be in Stuckey Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Beard’s Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Broyles Foundation for Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregivers.  Donations can be made c/o Ray Davis at www.broylesfoundation.org

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Walnut Grove Nursing Home and staff and Circle of Life Hospice for the excellent care given to Ray.

    We were saddened to hear of Mr. Davis passing. His daughter Trinda was a great neighbor many years ago. I know how much her dad loved his kids. I’m sure he loved his grandchildren just as much. May you find peace in his passing. It’s so hard to lose a parent but to know he’s in God’s arms now.

    Ray , our sweet friend so Special he is to our family he always made time to visit with the littlest neighbors.We love you Ray and Joyce. Your family the brightness to your days ! Your Love for them always prevelent !
