Linda Faye Thornsberry, most known as Granny, 78 years old, passed May 19th, 2026, in her grandson’s home at 4:30 a.m. surrounded by family.

Linda was born October 11th, 1947, at home in Durham, Arkansas, to James Marvin Thornsberry and Margaret Deliah (Kennon) Thornsberry.

Linda was a devoted Christian and was a member of Woolsey Community Church.

She enjoyed singing, spending time with family and friends, her animals, dancing, cooking, and hosting family gatherings. Linda, known for her witty jokes, never met a stranger. For her children and grandchildren, she always kept a toothpick handy, while for her great-grandchildren, she always had candy.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, George Thornsberry; one daughter, Kelly Caudle; two nephews, Brian Thornsberry (Coco) and Ricky Snawder; two great-nephews, Travis Bowlin, Jake Snawder.

She is survived by her children, Bobby Caudle, Honey Lynn Caudle, James Slavens (Duck), Jason Slavens, and their spouses; 21 grandchildren and spouses; 37 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jimmy Thornsberry (Bodie); four sisters, Mary Snawder, Brenda Thornsberry, Betty Guitteriz, and Marilyn Mattson; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends.

Though we must now walk forward without her hand in ours, we carry her guiding light in our hearts. After a life well-lived, Granny is finally at rest.

Well done, good and faithful servant. Welcome home.

Funeral services for Linda will be Tuesday, May 26th, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville with Jesse Smith officiating. Burial will follow at West Fork Cemetery.

Sadden to hear of your passing. Looking back over the years I have known you I was able to hear some great music from you especially on the Friday nights at church when you, Wanda and Cassi sang. Loved the harmony. I am glad I was able to produce a cd of you singing so your singing voice will live on for as long as compact discs can be played. I enjoyed the process and I imagine sometimes you wondered what I was doing to your songs. You went along with me though and it turned out very well. I am listening to it now. You sang a song I Wouldn’t Take Nothing For My Journey now which reminded me of Vestal Goodman’s voice. I am sure your journey is complete now and you have found rest from the past few years of struggle. You sang a song The Darkest Hour and some of the lyrics were ‘the darkest hour is just before dawn’. You have been through your darkest hour.

Church will never be the same without you singing in the choir or singing specials. Glad I was able to be part of those moments.
