Lucy Kathleen Pointer, 92, of Fayetteville, AR, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 10, 2021. A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2021 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Don Carter officiating. Private burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery where her body will be placed together forever beside her loving husband, Lige F. Pointer.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 12:00 noon until the hour of service Friday afternoon at the funeral home.
Kathleen was born on February 23, 1928 near Searcy in White County, Arkansas. A strong, independent, and savvy businesswoman, she owned and operated various investment properties during a time of the country’s financial turmoil. She was a loving wife to Lige F. Pointer, her business and life partner, who predeceased her in 1989. Mrs. Pointer had a strong work ethic and smart fiscal sense. Always diligently independent and physically active, she drove herself and lived on her own on Starr Drive, with a beautiful expansive yard which she tended and mowed, and where many of Fayetteville’s youth practiced baseball. “Aunt Kathleen” mentored many women on financial responsibility and was an example to all in her family. She will greatly be missed.
Healthy and strong, she survived most of her family, having been predeceased by her parents, siblings; loving husband; step-son, Johnie E. Pointer; nieces Elva Rouse, Lenora Crumby, Mary Studebaker, all of Fayetteville; and most recently, Kay (Everett) Richardson of Erin, Tennessee with whom she was visiting when Kay passed away in July of 2020. Aunt Kathleen returned to her beloved Fayetteville and, as her last example of financial planning, had already taken care of and paid in full her funeral arrangements and burial.
Lucy Kathleen Pointer is survived by extended family, each of whom shared in devotedly caring for her, including great niece Tammy Chumley, great nephews, Paul Studebaker (Maurine Farris) and Tim (Dee) Studebaker. She is also survived by numerous great, great-nephews and great, great-nieces.
