Macel Shumate Davis of Fayetteville passed away on January 10, 2012, ending her brave battle with cancer. She was born June 30, 1932 in Elkins, Arkansas, the daughter of Etta Smith.

After twenty years, she retired from a job she loved at the Washington County Clerk’s Office  and began working full time on the job she was so very good at, as her “brothers’ keeper”.  She felt it her calling to take care of others; family, friend, or stranger.  Now it is her turn to rest.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Davis and infant son Gregory Scott Davis.

The memory of her love and kindness will forever be held in the hearts of her children, Gary Davis, Pam Williams, Cheryl Broadway and Melanie Houston; her nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; her loving sister, Phyllis Spurlock and all her nieces and nephews.
