Mary Layer was born on December 4, 1948 to the parents of Howard and Blanche Nickell.
She was preceded in death by her son Dean Layer; her husband Tommy Layer; both parents, Howard and Blanche Nickell; and two sisters, Joanne Gladden and Judy Barker.
Mary lived in Winslow, Arkansas for the last 25 years. She retired from Ball Canning Company where she worked for over 25 years. Mary belonged to the First Baptist Church in Greenland, Arkansas, where she had many friends. She loved to sing and do garden work.
We will all miss her laugh and her kindness, truly a friend.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Nickell Memorial Church in Hazel Valley, Arkansas.

Mary was strong willed, and stesdfast, especially pertaining to her faith in Jesus Christ! She was a 1st cousin of mine, and we visited many times adiscussing the word of God, and what is in store for us when we are called to our eternal home in heaven!!
Mary was an “I love you ” person! She always ended our conversations with, I love you. Mary sent greeting cards to loved ones, and friends, on Cheistmas, birthdays, and other occasions throughout the years past!

We went to the same church salem Baptist years ago. Fine Christian woman, loved hearing her sing.
I worked with Mary for many years at ball corp. she was a true friend of mine. She will be missed by many people RIP old friend.
