Melva Landelius Parrish, 92 of Fayetteville passed away, April 23, 2014 at Willard Walker Hospice Home.
She was born October 16, 1921 in the Bethlehem Community near Blackburn, Arkansas to O.G and Cleo Landelius.She was a homemaker and a member of Sang Avenue Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
She worked many years for The Oberman Garment Factory and retired as a cafeteria worker from Ramay Junior High School.
She was preceded in death by her son, Darrell Parrish. Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Huebert Parrish; one son, Wayne Parrish and wife Frances of Fayetteville; one daughter, Darlene Counts and husband Robert Wayne Counts of West Fork and daughter in law, Linda Parrish of Farmington. She was blessed with six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Beards Funeral Chapel.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday at Sang Avenue Baptist Church, 1425 N Sang Ave, Fayetteville, AR 72703 at 2:00 PM with Paul Dennis and Avery Minor officiating. Burial will follow at Baptist Ford Cemetery.

May God sustain you and comfort you during this sad time. I have such fond memories of Miss Melva and the Baldwin store when I was a child. She always made me feel welcome and talked to me even though I was a pesky kid.

Just a note to say I’m thinking about and praying for your family, especially Linda, the kids and grandkids. We go back 40 years from working together, having babies, your oldest keeping mine, your youngest “my” cop in Farmington to grandkids playing together. I’m sorry I didn’t know Melva, but I DO know she’s an amazing woman. Your loss is Heaven’s gain, and she’s reunited with Darrell. I have so many happy memories of Melva, that go back when Faye and I were just babies. She used to carry us around and sing to us, what a wonderful voice she had, I’m sure the angel band has already enlisted her for they’re choir. I had such a nice visit with her, and her husband Hurbert at the family reunion. What a blessing it is to know that she is with Jesus and that we will all spend eternity together. I’m sure the family that is already there has given her lots of hugs

We have so many happy memories of our cousin Melva dating back to the time we were just babies in the hills of Arkansas. She had a beautiful voice and would sing to us as she carried us around. I am sure the angel band already has her signed up to sing with them. I remember her father, my uncle Gilbert playing ‘ Precious Memories’ on the piano in the little country church, we would all gather around and sing
I had a wonderful visit with her and her husband Huebert at our family reunion last year at West fork. I’m sure that the joy we all felt just being together, will not compare to the joy we will all experience at the family reunion in heaven. Until then, remember we are praying for you, that God’s grace and peace will fill your heart.
I have such fond memories of Hubert and Melva at the Baldwin grocery store and also when I would be able to see them at the nursing home where my mother, Zola Stanberry, resided for three years. Also such great memories of Darrell growing up together. Miss you all.

Melva and Huebert were our neighbors practically all my life living in the country and in the city. I will always have the deepest respect for Melva as she was always uplifting, kind, and made me feel special. A very special lady indeed !! To the family: I hope the memories of Miss Melva will bring a smile. Her strength and goodness was an example to me. Know that I care!!
Huebert, you and Melva hold such a special place in our hearts. We love you both so much. We take comfort knowing someday we will have a wonderful reunion. What a glorious day that will be !
