michaelscottMichael Christopher Scott, age 32, died Friday, May 9, 2014 in Fayetteville. Michael was born on April 1, 1982 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Debbie and David Scott. Michael was an adventurous person. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was his daily walks at the park with his dog, Harpo, hiking with family and friends, climbing 14-ers, or just lounging in his hammock with a good book. He was incredibly kind to family, friends, and even strangers, helping those around him and lending a positive outlook to those having a bad day. With an education in architectural studies, he began investigating sustainable design. He would also take any opportunity to discuss social, political and environmental topics and sought ways to use the natural world to create solutions to local problems. After the loss of his sister, Katie Scott, he is survived by his parents, Debbie and David Scott, his three sisters Erin, Sara, and Jennifer Scott;  his penguin Marye Scantlin, his paternal grandparents Jean and Paul Scott, his maternal grandparents Betty and Tom Lynch; his extended family Seth Fritschie, JD Horne, Cosmo Denger, Ryan Davis, Drew Conner, Gary DeVore,  and Dawn, Ashton, and Grayson Robbins, along with many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins and so many more whose lives he has impacted. The visitation will be Sunday, May 11 from 3-5 at Beard’s Chapel in Fayetteville. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 12 at 9 am at Beard’s Chapel. The burial will be in Fairview Memorial Cemetery in Fayetteville. Immediately following, family and friends will gather at Veteran’s Park at Lake Fayetteville to celebrate Michael’s life and accomplishments. Pallbearers will be JD Horne, Seth Fritschie, Cosmo Denger, Robert Ward, Ryan Davis, and Erin, Jennifer, and Sara Scott. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Human Society of the Ozarks as a reflection of Michael’s ideals.  To make donations, please visit www.hsozarks.net or call 479-444-7387.
