Miriam A. Doege, 83, of Elkins died December 16, 2014.  She had experienced an acute exacerbation of her COPD following the sudden loss of her only daughter, Mecaela Doege Pope, 60, on November 19, 2014.  Miriam was born October 27, 1931 in Prattsville, Arkansas and was married to Erwin Doege August 18, 1951, who preceded her in death May 14, 2006 .

Miriam  was a professional folksinger, a prolific songwriter, and until recently an active member of local poetry groups.  She is survived by her son, Kurt Doege; her brother, James Keesee; grandchildren Jake Pope, Lauren Doege, Aidan Doege; and great-grandson Jacob.

Private services in celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
