Phillip R. Guinn, 64, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Willard Walker Hospice Home. He was born January 2, 1948 in Fayetteville the son of Howard and Gwen Keeney Guinn.
He was an accountant and former member of University Baptist Church and present member of Christian Life Cathedral.
He was the Founder and CFO of Ozark Mountain Basset Rescue, Inc.
Survivors include 1~daughter, Shannon Guinn of Springdale; his mother, Gwen Guinn of Fayetteville; several aunts and uncles, cousins, and host of friends.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Beard’s Funeral Chapel with Dr. H.D. McCarty and Pastor Steve Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 5~7 PM Monday, July 2, 2012 at the funeral home.

To the Guinn Family:
I was looking at my son’s obit (on Beard’s web site) and happened to look over to the right and saw Phil’s name. We worked together years ago at Brown and Deskin, CPA’s and reconnected a couple of years ago. I have an e-mail dated 6-14-2012 from him that I hadn’t even read as a result of my son’s accident on 6-15-2012. While I am still mourning the loss of my son, I want to extend my sympathy to you also. I am just heartsick over Phil’s passing and will miss him and his political jokes for a long time.

I have known Phil for the last ten years through the various Basset boards we have been on, and through our shared love of the breed. Although I live in the UK and never got to meet Phil, I still consider him a friend and will miss him greatly.
Phil was funny, irreverent and a thoroughly nice guy. The Basset world has lost a great advocate and OMBR a tireless worker for the cause.

Though I only knew him on the internet through our Basset message boards and Basset Rescue I know he was a good man and am proud to call him a friend. A dear friend who will be missed by many. What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word. We may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you passed on, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too wonderful to forget. You will be missed but not forgotten.

I can’t tell you how shocked and sorry I am for your loss, and for the loss to the entire Basset Rescue community. When I served as President and Director of Operations for North Texas Basset Hound Rescue, Phil was an ever-constant source of support and we spoke on many occasions. We all have such great respect for everything he brought to the mission of rescueing our breed, and making such a difference in the lives of dogs and people alike.
I take comfort in knowing that right now, Phil is at the Rainbow Bridge, crossing over with so very many homeless basset hounds, continuing to provide them with love and care.

While I never met Phil face to face we did speak and correspond on a few occasions while I was President of North Texas Basset Hound Rescue a few years ago. He was very helpful and I could tell he had a huge love for the breed. He leaves a hole in the heart of many basset rescues and will be greatly missed by hounds and humans alike.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Phil only as a fellow dog walker at Gulley Park but I was always touched by his obvious love and devotion to his dogs. It was always a pleasure to talk to him. He was a very kind man.
Our hearts go out to Phil’s family. Phil was a wonderful man with a heart of gold. The basset hound community has suffered a great loss with Phil’s passing. RIP my dear friend.

I was blessed to have finally gotten to meet Phil in person many years ago at an OMBR function after years of just knowing him online.
A good, true friend and a champion of the homeless hounds; for Phil it was always ALL about the dogs.
I spent a weekend with Phil the middle of June just a few weeks before he journeyed on to the next adventure; I left knowing I would never see him again.
I miss you my friend. Until we meet again.

I was so very sad to hear about Phil’s passing. We were brought together through our love for Basset Hounds and have been email pals for many years. Phil was very supportive when we adopted our Buddy Ray from OMBR. What a wonderful caring man. Such a loss at too early an age.
I didn’t know Phillip Guinn personally, however, I was touched by the fact that he had passed away at such a young age when compared to others. In addition, to see the impact that he had on other’s lives, including the dogs that he rescued, is a testament to the good life that he lived.
