Richard Hartzell Brooks, 59, of Springdale, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in Springdale. Richard was born January 17, 1960 in St. Louis, MO and the family moved to Northwest Arkansas in May of 1970.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram H. and Rita L. Brooks; brothers, James and Michael Brooks; and sister, Patricia Holman.
He is survived by his brother, William Brooks and sister, Maria Anderson.
Richard was a former student of the Elizabeth Richardson Center and worked at Richardson Industries until his retirement in 2001. He participated in Special Olympics and was the recipient of numerous gold medals for his outstanding performance in swimming and track and field. He also loved bowling, shopping at Walmart and ice cream. He was a huge Razorback fan and as well a fan of the Shiloh Christian Saints football team.
Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2019 from 5-7 PM at Beard’s Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Beard’s Chapel with Pastor Jasper Hankins officiating. Interment will follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Beard’s Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Elizabeth Richardson Center in lieu of flowers.

I will miss him. His smile was very bright and I loved his tickle game. Him and love for sodas was something serious. Fly high!!!
