Richard “Rick” Dean Henry, 68, of Fayetteville, died March 15, 2016 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home. He was born January 30, 1948 in Multnomah County, Oregon to Harry Dean and Rosalie Hildur Sodergren Henry.
He retired as Chief Warrant Officer with the U.S. Coast Guard, was a member of the NRA, was a Ham Operator and very active with the Republican Party.
Rick was preceded in death by his wife Janie.
He is survived by son, Rich Henry and wife, Tammy of Fayetteville; daughter, Tammany Kladis of Phoenix, AZ.; step-daughter, Tiffany Daniels and husband, Chris of Bentonville; grandchildren, Gratian Henry, Caleb White, Katlyn Souza, Nathan, Ian and Aaron Daniels and Jordan and Kianna Seibel.
Graveside memorial services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Mt Olive Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Beard’s Funeral Chapel.
I knew Rick only via ham radio. We had numerous contacts on the air. He was a helpful and courteous gentlemen. Sorry to the family for your loss. The county hunter group will miss him.

This was a shocker to me, Rick I only knew on the air was a fine gentleman and loved by all.
To his family I’ll say that he was loved by hundreds of Amateur Radio Operators. The first time he was working on have a contact in every county I received many notes of thanks from him.

I had the pleasure of talking to Rick on amateur radio over the years, many contacts have been logged. This news was a shocker. I will light a candle at church for the family to help them through this difficult time. .
I also knew Rick from our ham radio county hunting activities. He was always a gentleman and willing to help. I can’t count the number of times he did favors for me. I felt as if I’d known him for years. It greatly saddens me that he is gone. The Henry family has my deepest condolences.

I found out about Rick’s passing after the funeral services, as I was out of town a few days. I had bought some ham equipment from him in the past when he re-structured his ham station, I and was amazed by his intricate and multiple antenna setups. Visited him a few times but not in the past 3 years. I tried to email the family at the arrl.com address twice and called, but his # was “out of service”. Wanted to personally give my sympathy to the son, Rich and Tammy. I will gladly assist in the towers/antennas removal should help be needed later by the family.. RIP Rick and thank you “up there” for the local ham friendship in the past.

A close personal friend, USCG shipmate and fellow Ship Radio Officer, both of us worked closely on the same Cargo ships as ARA MREO’s. Neighbors in Ocean Park, WA before they moved back to Arkansas to be near family. I miss him terribly and he will always be in my heart and fond memories.
