Samuel “Sam” Brewer, September 18, 1940~May 14, 2023

Dec 13, 2023

For God so loved me He gave me Sam to share and enrich my life. I miss him every minute of every day. I’ll always love you, Sam…..Hazel.

It was in the month of September 1940 when Fern and Orbra Brewer announced to the world the birth of their first child, Samuel (“Sam”) Brewer. He lived in Oregon County Missouri with his family until shortly after his high school graduation, when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Iceland and California.

After serving his country he found employment in Kansas City, Missouri working for Vesto TV and then two years as a cameraman for KCMO/Channel 5.

While working for Vesto, he met the love of his life, Hazel Thacker, whom he married. They had one beautiful baby daughter, Lisa Brewer, followed by the birth of their son, William Joseph Brewer, who sadly died one day after his birth.

Later Sam worked as an electronic technician, where he and his team designed and built a part that went on US space missiles. He loved creating new inventions, but his favorite job was teaching veterans electronics. Sam retired from Kansas City Power and Light Company in 1999.

One of Hazel’s fondest and most treasured memories of Sam is of him proudly carrying baby Lisa around on a pillow.

He was a voracious reader and a devoted father and husband. His heart overflowed with love and kindness for those he dearly cared about. One of his greatest gifts to his family was his patient nature when things did not go as planned.

On May 14th, 2023 Sam joined his parents, Fern and Orbra Brewer; his son, William Joseph Brewer; and his sister Mary Jane Brewer at God’s heavenly address.

Sam is survived by his wife Hazel and daughter Lisa, both from Fayetteville, Arkansas his sister, Ginger Fink of Warsaw, Missouri; and his brother, Dail Brewer of Maysville, Missouri.
